Fed: Plane, tugs and rig underway to deal with WA spill

A Boeing 747 is expected to fly in high capacity pump and spray equipment today from
Singapore to help fight a huge oil slick that's spreading off Western Australia's Kimberley
Coast.

The Greens claimed last night the oil and gas spill is much larger and closer to the
coast than previously reported.

Australian Greens senator RACHEL SIEWERT .. who's visited the oil rig from where the
spill has originated .. says a film of oil around the rig reaches from horizon to horizon.

She says it stretches at least 180 kilometres from east to west.

A drilling rig towed by two tugs has left Batam Island in Indonesia .. also heading
for the spill scene.
