WA:Heat prompts bushfire warning in WA

Soaring temperatures in Perth over the next few days has prompted authorities to warn
residents living in or near bushland to be prepared for bushfires.

In Perth the temperature will reach 36 degrees on New Year's Day .. 40 degrees on Sunday
.. 38 on Monday and 37 on Tuesday.

JAMIE O'NEILL from the Kalamunda Volunteer Bushfire Brigade says people should be ready
to act if bushfires begin and in particular is urging hills residents not to be complacent
and remain alert.

He says bushfires can start suddenly .. often without warning and people need to reduce
risks and take actions to survive.

The Fire and Emergency Services Authority says areas in the South West Land Division
are likely to face total fire bans in the coming days as temperatures soar.
