NSW: Carr knew up to six weeks ago he would resign
Outgoing New South Wales Premier BOB CARR says he knew up to six weeks ago that he'd
resign as state leader.
Mr CARR announced his resignation from state politics last Wednesday after more than
10 years as premier.
He said he and his wife HELENA made the decision the previous weekend as they soaked
up some winter sunshine.
But today, Mr CARR has told Macquarie Radio he had a strong feeling he'd resign by
June the 23rd, when the last session of parliament finished.
On that day, he turned and waved at MPs before leaving, prompting Liberal MP CHRIS
HARTCHER to walk across the chamber and say: You won't be back.
Health Minister MORRIS IEMMA will be formally elected premier when the Labor Party
caucus meets tomorrow.
