Aid to family for daughter's care cut.(Capital Region)

SCHAGHTICOKE - The Ferguson family is continuing to unite their time and love to care for their most vulnerable member.

Melinda Ferguson, 12, is the youngest of five daughters and a son. She has Angelman syndrome, a disability that has left her with no speech and the development abilities of a preschooler.

In March 2005, the Times Union profiled the family's unique arrangement for supporting Melinda: three of her older sisters, in their high school and early college years, spent long hours caring for her. The evening and weekend care was necessary because their parents, Keith and Rosanne, worked more than full time to support their family.
