SA: Home lending to peak over Xmas-New Year

Bank SA says home lending applications are expected to peak over the next few weeks
following the latest round of interest rate cuts.

Spokesman CHRIS WARD says increasing numbers of people are now seeking home loan approvals
in a bid to capitalise on the ideal buying climate.

He says the most recent cut in interest rates by the Reserve Bank, the sixth for 2001,
has reduced rates to the lowest level in more than 30 years.
