Vic: Parents call for review of surgeon's sacking
The parents of patients have called for sacked surgeon PADDY DEWAN to be reinstatedat Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital.
The whistle-blowing pediatric urologist was dismissed last night after going publicwith allegations the hospital is failing to deal adequately with medical mistakes.
About 40 parents and their children -- who were Professor DEWAN's patients -- haveprotested against the dismissal outside Victorian Health Minister BRONWYN PIKE's office.
One mother, VANESSA RODRIGUES, says the group won't back down and will fight to winProfessor DEWAN's job back.
The hospital today ruled out any compromise on its decision to sack Professor DEWAN.
The hospital's women's and children's health chair KERRIE CROSS says the professorwas dismissed because of his deteriorating relationship with his colleagues.
Professor DEWAN hopes the public outcry will force a review of his dismissal.
