NSW: Man charged with murder after body found in Newcastle

A 22-year-old man will face court today charged with murder after a man was found dead
with another critically wounded in a suburban Newcastle townhouse.

The arrest of the Charlestown man comes after a 33-year-old man was found dead in Mayfield
townhouse early yesterday morning.

A 27-year-old man was found lying nearby, suffering serious head injuries.

He remains in intensive care in a critical condition.

The arrested man was also charged with attempted murder, stealing a motor vehicle and larceny.

He's due to appear in Newcastle Local Court today.
